It's one of the things we'll be debating at tomorrow's platform committee meeting. I'm not sure I like the idea of it. Any comments?

Nay. 1) Seems like we're already overwhelmed with attempts to shift power from congress to the executive branch.
2) This president has made it clear that if any power can be abused or politicized it will be.
3) There's nothing in the Constitution that provides for it.

That's exactly what I've come up with. This appears to be the only proposal for the platform that I have an issue with. I'm gathering up my arguments now. I'm actually quoting George Will. EEEK! Of course, I'll be eliminating the obligatory liberal smearing from the article.

Nay, the LAST thing we need right now is more power and control in the executive branch.

The Repugs wouldn't give it to clinton,I say leave it that way!
(Think what Bush would have done with the line item, AND signing statements!)

Power of the purse. Happy is against it.

How's the impeachment plank coming?
Libertas
HELL no. That is a serious abuse of executive power, and basically makes the President into a limited monarch... actually, some monarchs have much less power.

Same here. It just lets the President zero out any program s/he doesn't like. That's way too much power. The power of the purse is about all Congress has left at this point.
