I don't see how ANY blue states from 2004 can go red, but what about red to blue? I ask because, although it seems very obvious to me that the Democrat (preferably and presumably Obama) will trounce McCain in a NATIONAL election, but it all comes down to the State electoral votes in what is still a fairly partisan country. Assuming that regional trends hold, the winner of the election basically just has to carry two out of three among Pennsylvania, Florida, and Ohio. Pennsylvania is no longer in contention in my mind, but what about the other two, which were crucial Bush states in 2004?

Now, I think Obama could win all three of those states, and possibly several other states Bush won in 2004, like New Mexico, Nevada, and even Colorado (no evangelical turnout for McCain means CO is a much tighter race). Hell, it's even possible Obama could pull another Atlantic State depending on his running mate.

Thoughts on the Electoral Map for 2008?
