What about general news?

pick one...
i brought this up because you wanted a change that made sense.

The concept makes sense, but if you don't give it wings, it won't fly.

Are you giving up, here?

poll the people...

How "Foreign" Is It?
POAC
Ha ha mortals trying to improve on perfection. It can't be done!!! bwa ha ha!!!!!!!

OK, seriously now...

Nay. I already have people complaining about the number of subforums. Also, the risk of overlap is too great: Say the U.S. deploys another carrier group to the Persian Gulf. Some people would say that's foreign news, others would day it's U.S. I run into that kind of judgment call all the time with the daily headlines.

But that's just my 2 cents. If there's overwhelming support for the idea, I'll do it.

I might like to see a forum for "General News"

Quite often I have something of interest and there is no forum that it seems to fit in, but don't want to trivialize it by adding it to the watercooler.

Sometimes we have a news story that is OLD news. Latest news isn't correct, and it's not really a political story.

General Political and other news?
Jack
Nay. Almost all of the sub-forums that we have can be used for news and i think they adequately cover the most common areas we would be discussing. I think we have all had the problem of deciding "should this story go in "general politics", "latest news", or "science and technology." The more sub-forums we have, the move convoluted it would become.

The only new forum i think we absolutely need is one for music but a certain administrator never responded to my pm dry.gif

You can always start a thread in the watercooler, and then ask that it be pinned.

We already have Billy's thread pinned. We had a few going at once a few weeks ago, all were rapidly filled with posts. I don't know how well it would work with just one thread.

How about, "Jacks Music Thread" and encourage others to make their own threads similer to Billy's?

It is only about lyrics. There doesn't seem to be too much discussion on anything other than lyrics. Plus it is already about 50 pages long. Can you imagine how hard it would be to find info in it if everyone was posting messages?

Fair enough. Why not try what Sky said; start a thread and ask for it to be pinned? Better than nothing..?

Probably not necessary. We could always just post threads about music in the Watercooler as needed. I just thought it might be a good sub-forum. Although the idea of "Jack's Music Thread" is intriguing, only because it sounds like it would be my thread and only my thread. Just me posting messages for myself.

Oh i'm good at this. I would also say dissociative identity disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, avoidant personality disorder, and maybe obsessive compulsive personality disorder.

Really? I just want to make sure you aren't confusing that with obsessive compulsive disorder. I would find it hard to believe you have OCPD.

Please, you are as crazy as the rest of us.

And in case you don't know:

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder involves obsessing about one thing or feeling the need to do some ritualistic act or both.

Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder involves being really uptight, really controlling, feeling like the way you do things is the only right way and that other people will fuck things up if you aren't around.

Ah, psychology.

I suggest an equitable settlement.

TJ, what say you grant this poor victimized human free access to the White Rose forum for life?
I'd say that outta more than cover the mans grievances. thumbup.gif
