Impressive! You've got a very talented brother there Ren! clap.gif clap.gif clap.gif

I just love his sense of humor and playfulness, and he's not afraid to dip into darkness with it.

I really like the color choice here - the aquamarine over the earth-tones filling most of the field with the subject moving toward he off-angle really creates a feeling of movement; and he muted eyes really give an impression of submersion. There's lots of talent here.

Damn.
There's a special place in heaven for people who can do that. And for those of us who constantly try... A big ol' bowl of "goddammits". evil.gif

So where does he show and what do they cost? What's he get per square inch? That's some serious great work. Seriously amazing work. Damn.
Kate...

I like this one.

(Now it's taking me a minute to figure out how to post this message!)

Hi... Kate...

I'm trying to get him to come and at least respond to these posts.

He living and showing in Santa Fe, NM right now.

If anyone seriously wants to get in touch, let me know.

Hi, Kate, smile.gif
Kate...
Thanks, seuss. I, btw, agree with your sign-on name, in countless examples. The man had something to say on most message board subjects I've encountered, especially when you get down to the nitty gritty of what people are actually disagreeing about. A Dr. Seuss dose for so many impasses has done me a world of good. smile.gif

Hi, Ren. I don't think a visual artist should break from thinking art thoughts to ponder their appreciation on a message board, ... but that's just me. wink.gif

... unless, of course, he wants to and it builds something important for him.

well! I'll be careful not to do that one again. Yes, I have the same problem Kate, The damn reply is where I want the edit to be, because that's where it is on another board!

Here's the quote I was responding to (but now I see you've edited and my response is sort of unnecessary):

As my brothers (both of them) will tell you, part of the fun is the critique. smile.gif

You may wan to suggest a vist to Sedona Az...
Lots of appreciation for art there, and lots of well-ensconced buyers.

go south to ABQ, head west to Flagstaf on I-40, then south on 89A into Sedona...

Absolutely the most beautiful drive in the country (the 89A part), puts Rt. 1 in CA. to shame...

Will deffinately inspire, and may lead to some lucrative contacts.

Thanks for the suggestions, Seuss. It'll give us something to talk about the next time. I don't know if he's been over that way in awhile, although I know he's motorcycled through there sometime in the past four years. We used to live in Patagonia years ago. I love the sculptured rockscape of Arizona, though it's really too hot for me, I need a cooler climate. I've been all over the state. I grew up waiting for the next Arizona Highways to come in the mail.

He does have a sense of humor, and it does come through, doesn't it? He had to go through a lot of darkness, though, before he finally got it back. You may not want to see those.

His humour comes through very well indeed! thumbup.gif
I may find his darker stuff disturbing, but I doubt I'd find it less valuable. I'm pretty much all about light n love these days (with the odd swear word thrown in for good measure wink.gif) but I had my share of darkness to go through before I got here. I think it's an important part of the journey, and goes not a little way towards creating perspective, compassion....AND humour (to name just three!). cool.gif

Sedona's @4500' and Flag is higher up than denver, and colder... a lot Like CO. It's about 8000'.

I'd wait a month and a half before heading out. It's still definately WINTER.

northern AZ is VERY different than phoenix and south...

Mt. Humphries (Flagstaff) stands @ 12,69(3?)' and is the highest point in AZ. The smaller peak to the north, Agassiz(sp?) is home to the AZ snowbowl, a ski resort.

Sonoma is about the same elevation as Patagonia, about the same climate, it's on a high plateau above the desert, which is on the other side of Mt Wrightson (9456 feet). Definitely more tolerable for me than Phoenix or Tuscon. I hiked that whole area down there, part of a psychic healing process after the military.

I'm giving it a try, but that white on black doesn't quite do it for me. I'll try it out in the a.m.

It's the saturated darkness I like. Blue dreams is nice, except when you write, then it's black on white.

I'm using the WWWskin-en (import)

I dunno, seems sorta art deco.
