Brilliant stuff. What a wasteful bunch we are.
I remember seeing some staggering images of the former Soviet nuclear submarine fleet rotting in the brackish arctic waters of Zapadnaya Litsa on the Kola peninsula.
Here are some images of one of the abandoned bases, on the Black Sea, somewhere near Odessa, I think, that is now a museum. So much work, so much effort, so much waste.

Even today, as well as having now visited the rotting concrete fortifications, it gives me hope that fascism can never be eternal, and that no matter how bumptious and rah-rah flag-waving it becomes, it'll always slide into a decaying cumbling waste, full of dying echos of lamentation for such crass barbary.
Chris used his youthful sketching latter on, as he began drawing and painting Sci-Fi images, many taking influence from his early observations of the futility of warmongerers, and transforming nazi fortifications into starship hulks half buried in alien sands, as eternal suns gazed impassively down.
