These commercials have more overt fear mongering than a republican campaign commercial. The last one i saw was a women getting ready for a date and there is some guy who looks at her through window and then bashes it in with a crowbar. There is another one just like it but a couple of kids are playing in a room. There is one where a guy just kicks the front door in the middle of the day. Why don't they just show some little girl getting raped and then being burned alive? There is no holding back at this point. Scaring people for money, the definition of ethical.

how about military recruiting commercials, telling youngsters that they'll be "greeted as heroes" instead of having federally mandated side effects notices like pharmaceuticals?

you know... "may lead to suicidal tendancies, post traumatic stress disorder, or homelessness. see our ad in spin magazine for more details..."

I think the only less realistic commercials out there are the ones promoting the military. Somehow "Army strong" is more appealing than "we'll make you a cog in our machine and then deny you care when you're missing a leg and have nightmares every time you sleep." Just like the illusion of the white picket fence and the gated community as fortress walls--it makes people feel a lot better about the violence they commit as a society.

I dunno bout you guys, but the sight of a giant pitcher of Koolaid crashing through a wall scares the crap outta me!

I always think its a little weird that Cap'n Crunch's only friends seem to be 11 year olds, and Tony the Tiger is a competition obsessed behemoth (Steroids?).

The AIDs pandemic . Waterboarding . Dick Cheney . (Although waterboarding Dick Cheney before asking him if it's torture would be a good thing. ) Poor personal hygiene . Dogs that bark all night long . Going blind in one or more eyes . Limb amputation . Geo-Thermo Nuclear War . And testicular cancer .
Besides those things, no, there's nothing worse than those Brinks Home Security ad's. They really do suck the big one!
