Not good. All future presidential elections would be meaningless if this plan goes through, with republicans winning every time. The poll is about three weeks old but still is scary.

I wouldn't be all that worried. I'd still be willing to bet it won't pass. CA voters rejected the last Republican power-grab attempt (redistricting), and they are liable to reject this one, too, especially if it is state-wide by population and not by county (LA and SF are--rightly--not about to surrender up their political clout).

But the opposition needs to broadcast the phrase "gerrymandered presidential elections" as often as possible. It's true, and it'll get the point across.
