Move America Forward War Rally
Flag Pole Hill
Dallas, TX

9 September 2007

Move America Forward came to Flag Pole Hill last night to help Americans show their support for our Brave Boys and Girls in harms way. It brought tears to my eyes to see the moms with their small children eager to share their love for their brave husbands and dads. Moms and Dads came to show support for their sons and daughters in harms way. Grandmas and Grandpas also came. In all maybe 100 people total came out. The number is not important; I believe that if the American Citizenry of today were alive in the 1700’s the Boston Tea Party would never have happened. What is important is all the love, all the longing, all the support, and of course all the pain and pride that comes when a loved one is at war. You could feel it in the air. You would have to be inhuman not to feel their love and pain. Oh I was there I do not have a loved one in harms way; I support love and am very proud of our Brave Boys and Girls too. I just want them to come home now. I feel there is a better way to fight terror. A group of us held a sign that said “Bring Our Troops Home Alive”. Something we all want; we just have not been able to talk about how and when.

Jeff Bolton from local radio station KLIF 570 kicked things off. Not into his opening a minute, when the HATE started. “The Stupid people on the hill with the sign…” “The stupid people who do not understand…” “Stupid people like this that made us loose the war in Vietnam…” Then Lt. Colonel Buzz Patterson started “those people that support the terrorist by not supporting the war…” “Those aligned with Al Qaeda…” blah blah blah. Then the singing of patriotic songs; I liked that. It is a great feeling to sing the National Anthem out loud. With all this love, pride, and pain together for support, all the Move America Forward group could do is use it to create and perpetuate hate. Divide us even deeper! Shame on you!

This was not an event to support the troops! This was a Political Rally to support the war only. When talking about extended tours and 4 and 5 deployments for our troops, the response was “the troops love this”, “they want more deployments, they volunteer”. This is what patriots do, they volunteer they sacrifice they fight and die for us. They will be there until all are dead if we keep them there. This is American. This is Service to our past, present and future Americans. They do this without regards to themselves. We do not have to be reminded of their patriotism. Unless you are not breathing you must have heard or read something about the stress and mental conditions this is causing for an unprecedented number of troops. We love them? Right? Missing was talk about how military families can deal with this. But this and any other support for our troops and military families was not the purpose of this event. The purpose of all this is to confront those in Washington on the 15th of this month gathering for an end to this war. The goal of Move America Forward; to have a larger crowd, this was stated right at the beginning.

The whole purpose of a war is to end and create a peaceful coexistence. Is it not?

What do we the citizens do to support our troops? Well definitely not create hate amongst us, further dividing us. We look for an end. There has never been a war won by killing the entire enemy! Is there anyone who believes we will ever kill all terrorist? Is the only solution to send more troops? Keep all troops there? We already know this has never worked! It never works! Be conservative look at history! Eventually courageous leaders sit down talk and work it out. Unfortunately we seem to have lost ours.

People the time has come to “Support Our Troops”! Stop being Republicans, stop being Democrats and be Americans. Let us look for an end to this war!

Only “Together we can do something”! “Change things”!

Let's bring this up with the Anti-War members of the forum,
and let's see if we can't generate a nice little discussion on the topic?

I'm certainly not pro-war.
I think I'm anti-war, with a touch of pragmatism thrown in.

If someone were to call me pro-war, or even tolerant or war, would really offend me.

IMO, war should be the option of the very last resort.
As such, in all of American history the instances of true justification have been very rare.
And even those times when war was the only option, it's always come with lies and deception.

I strongly suspect that this truth, that war always comes with lies and deception, is as much an aspect of war as are bullets.

That said, the war in Iraq is wrong. Has always been wrong. And will always be wrong, for any reason imaginable.
The notion that soldiers LIKE multiple extended tours is truly fucked up, and I wonder how many tours keepusfree has seen?

I'm afraid I misread what this post was about.
It's been a busy day and I didn't read it completely.
I broke my own rule about making assumptions.

War on Terror is a war that can't be won,
because you can't go to war with an ideology.

So, we went to war with Saddam's Iraq instead.

Nearly 3800 official American deaths, hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's dead, Saddam himself is dead,
and what is the purpose? Why are we warring in Iraq?

I agree. If the current crowd of idiots were around in the 1700s, they would have responded to the British Tea Tax by attacking Portugal.

Did Portugal have Weapons of Mass Teatime ?

Is nowhere safe !! Woe is me ! I'm going to live in a cave on the Pakistani border and make shakey videos on my fathers (actually, Grandfather's...) old Betamax camera...I'll be safe there......

Hey, maybe OBL will start using black and white film soon, then we could all have nostalgic moments as we watch his scratchy discourse, ah,...Movietone news, with stirring Pashtun music screeching in the background, and a man from the BBC doing the voice-over....

Hey Sky,
I could not have said it better myself. To see these folks use the emotions of these people make me sick. I sent this article and a challenging email to the Radio Talk show host daring him to show his audience just how stupid I am. He refuses. We'll see I sent it to his station with the same challenge. They say stop using the troops for politics and that is all they do. They don't care about them. Look up the College Republican Convention on YouTube.

I am a post Vietnam War veteran. I have not been deployed to Iraq.
But I will tell you the same thing I told these folks who refuse to serve and want "others to fight them there so we don't have to fight them here"

I would rather die bloody in the streets of America to protect our freedoms, then bow on one knee and loose one freedom to feel safe.

We should be looking for a solution to this problem not more gasoline to pour on the fire.
