I am getting Audited by the IRS! Just my luck. They say I owe them $523.00 even for some railroad retirement fund I received. Talk about an obvious mistake. But they say it is my responsibly to come up with the documentation to prove I didn't receive railroad retirement. This should be fun. So basically I have to prove I am innocent. Man the IRS courts are like backwards to the civil and criminal courts on that regard.
Anyway, as a side note, I read threw all the paperwork they sent me and it says I can not contest it for certain reasons (morale, political, religious, etc.,.) and one of them is Constitutional. Isn't that strange? Why would they say you cant challenge them based on the Constitution?

Because many people attempt to claim that taxation is unconstitutional even though the courts have backed the Govt many times.
I think what they mean is that the audit hearing is not the proper place to contest taxes on those grounds.
Your grounds will presumably be that you never received any such income.
This could end up being good for you. Did you have a relative die that year who maybe used to work in railroads and listed you as a death beneficiary? If so, the IRS might help you find your lost inheritance.

because they can't come up with a specific law that shows you are liable for tax on wages (earned income)

I personally have no issue with paying my fair share towards the building and maintenance of the infrastruction that holds up our American society.
I like the clean water.
I like that human wastes don't flow in the streets.
I like the road system.
I like the hospitals and police and other emergency workers.
I like the Libraries and museums.
I like the Universties and space exploration.
I like that we help and protect those who are unable to help themselves.
I even like that I have a military that is dedicated to protecting me, my family and my way of life.
That said, I do also expect to pay only what I really owe, and I expect to only pay my fair share.
I would also like to not have what I have given to support this system wasted!
I realize that MM's IRS issue is a hassle, but I also expect he'll get it resolved.

Yeah, you cant ship if you have any outstanding loans, criminal charges, even a traffic ticket, until you handle it.
