Just wanted to say hello. I am the mother of a young Marine who has applied for a conscientious objector discharge. The process has been a nightmare, but we go on. Just wanted to say hello and look forward to talking with ya'll.

Kampertwo, My personal opinion on the circumstances we have today in Irag, I too, probably refuse to go. This is a war like no other, and no service man in any type of military status should go for this administration..
I believe in defending my country, but my God, not for some lame brain fool we have in the White House now.

You no doubt have looked into every angle on this, and know more about it than I can tell you. But in 1962, the defence department made it a policy to allow conscientious objectors to be discharged or transferred to non combatant duites without any reprimand.

In it's reality.. It is best to be perceived as a consientious objector, than a dead Marine without any merits.

Good luck and God Bless you.

Thank you for your support. Jack has added our sons porfile to the list of War Resisters. Our son received his report back from his investigating officer(32 days after the interview)last week and he had 7 days to return his rebuttal. With the help of his lawyer, Charles Gittins, he returned it and was able to address all the lies and inconsistancies that were in it. He has been met with roadblocks set up by the command from day one in thier hopes that he would go UA making thier job a little easier. Well, it didn't work. He has remained true to his convictions, remained honorable and respectful. The most shocking thing is his superiors have not been as honorable or respectful as he has, although they would try and make you think they have. They act shocked that we would even claim they have not been honorable themselves. In Trent's rebuttal to them he repeated that he would not kill or participate in war of any kind and he would not train with a weapon to prepare for war. He made it clear if he was ordered to pick up a weapon he would refuse and was prepared to go to jail. At boot camp he had the Marine Core Values drilled into him-Honor, Courage, Commitment. Under "Honor" I believe it says " I will not lie, cheat, or steal." From what we have seen the values are used only when and where they see fit, mainly used to market and advertise the Marines as the "the best of the best". Sorry if I have offended anyone here. I know there are some very honorable Marines that would not think of following an order they felt illegal, nor follow an order that went against their convictions, unfortunately those are not the types we have been dealing with. The ones we have had contact with are all about winning, even if it means discrediting our sons true convictions.

clap.gif for you and for your fine, brave son, Kampertwo. Sometimes it takes more courage to say no to war than it takes to actually do the fighting.

****POAC!****

Good for your son. This is braver than being sent to a war for oil to blow up innocent people. I'm sure you are incredibly proud of him for standing up for his beliefs. This war is wrong. I hope to see the BFEE in prison sooner rather than later.

And the commander-in-thief went AWOL so he has no idea what war is like.
Mr. "I get to decide" is a bloody moron and a war criminal.
