It's looking like a landslide for Gore amongst progressive/liberals (or should I say, Daily Kos readers).

My opinion, for what it's worth given I don't actually get a say in terms of suffrage: Not only North America, but the world needs Gore in the white house. Eight years (hopefully) of integrity coupled with intelligence and forward thinking in the most powerful position in the world is exactly what we all need.
I pray he stands.

Some spin doctors and media pundits say Gore is too stiff, too wooden, not "human" enough (that kiss wasn't human?). I say he has the quality the ancient Greeks considered the sine qua non for political leadership, i.e., high seriousness, precisely what George W. Bush lacks.

The sine qua non of poor leadership, for the ancient Greeks was hubris, precisely what George W. Bush possesses in full. I'm with the Greeks.

A good chuck of the electorate wants stupid qualities in their leaders. They would rather elect a guy they could have a beer with than someone they could take a college course from. They would rather elect someone with "faith and values" than solid planning and proven leadership. They would more likely listen to a minister than a professor when deciding whom to vote for. They would rather elect a "tough talker" hawk than someone who legitimately supports the troops.

The media feeds off that tendency and tries to make smarter voters feel helpless. Sometimes, I'm worried it's working. sad.gif
