The lord of the Dance
A welcome break from politics! - Runs for an hour and a half.

Can't wait for a chance to see a live performance!

You'll be disappointed. Flatley isn't doing "Lord of the Dance" anymore, he's doing "Celtic Tiger." And he isn't physically able to do the moves any more. And the touring troupes are not as good as Flatley. I suggest you stick to the videos.

What a shame! I really enjoyed that video, would have loved to see it live. I think it was Flatley's energy that made it such a great show though. huh.gif

Keep your eyes and ears open Karen, there is always good stuff out there to enjoy.

I don't know if "STOMP" is still on stage, but they were great!

Cirque de Soliel is always awesome, way beyond compare.

Blue Man Group, is equally as good as the Cirque, but is something also very different and exceptional.

I believe even Flatley's "Replacement" dance would be very much worth your dime to enjoy the show.
Without a doubt!

I've seen the U.S. troupe of "Lord of the Dance" and "Riverdance" live. And I've seen Flatley doing "Celtic Tiger" live.

Flately is first and foremost a showman. Many people can dance as well as he ever could, but Flatley puts on one hell of a show. The troupe productions of "Lord of the Dance" and "Riverdance" just didn't have the same energy. I was heard to remark sarcastically "This is more 'Acting Administrator of the Dance' than 'Lord of the Dance'."

When I saw Celtic Tiger, Flatley had put on maybe 20 pounds, and he didn't do the really physical stuff much. Mostly he relied on tap-dancing for his parts. I still thought Celtic Tiger was very good, and I enjoyed Flatley's showmanship again. But he's clearly on the downslide. I hope he can find a lead dancer with the same kind of presence and energy he had, and continue as a choreographer/director/producer.

Personally, though I love the dancers and their dance, I don't much care for Flatley himself.

I saw Riverdance in Chicago when it was still (I think) the original crew, including Michael Flatley. I also have the video. Flatley's dancing is electrifying, but I've never seen anyone with so evident an ego.
Jubal
So I won't drink with him. Boy puts on a hell of a show.
