THE LIE THEN:

QUOTE
Bush Press Conference- September 30, 2003

Q Yesterday we were told that Karl Rove had no role in it --

THE PRESIDENT: Yes.

Q -- have you talked to Karl and do you have confidence in him --

THE PRESIDENT: Listen, I know of nobody -- I don't know of anybody in my administration who leaked classified information. If somebody did leak classified information, I'd like to know it, and we'll take the appropriate action. And this investigation is a good thing.

And again I repeat, you know, Washington is a town where there's all kinds of allegations. You've heard much of the allegations. And if people have got solid information, please come forward with it. And that would be people inside the information who are the so-called anonymous sources, or people outside the information -- outside the administration. And we can clarify this thing very quickly if people who have got solid evidence would come forward and speak out. And I would hope they would.

And then we'll get to the bottom of this and move on. But I want to tell you something -- leaks of classified information are a bad thing. And we've had them -- there's too much leaking in Washington. That's just the way it is. And we've had leaks out of the administrative branch, had leaks out of the legislative branch, and out of the executive branch and the legislative branch, and I've spoken out consistently against them and I want to know who the leakers are.

TAKING THE 5TH NOW:

QUOTE
Bush Press Conference- February 14, 2007

Q: Thank you, Mr. President.

Sir, we've now learned through sworn testimony that at least three members of your administration other than Scooter Libby leaked Valerie Plame's identity to the media.

None of these three is known to be under investigation.

Without commenting on the Libby trial, then, can you tell us whether you authorized any of these three to do that or

BUSH: I'm not going to talk...

Q: ... whether they were authorized without your permission?

BUSH: Yes, thanks. I'm not going to talk about any of it.

Q: They're not under investigation, though, sir.

BUSH: I'm not going to talk about any of it.

Q: How about pardon, sir? Many people were asking whether you might pardon somebody...

BUSH: I'm not going to talk about it.

Would you like to think of another question? Being the kind man that I am, I will recycle you.

Q: Thank you, Mr. President.

BUSH: You like that one, huh?

Yes, recycling him.

Q: That took care of one of my questions as well, sir.

BUSH: If that's the case, sit down. Next question.

I think this leak is all Cheney, and not Bush at all. I think Bush knows very well that Cheney did it but he is not going to get in the middle of it. Of course Cheney, being the fine upstanding man that he is, is perfectly willing to let others stand trial, be investigated, and possibly be indicted for shit that he authorized. What a piece of work our Vice President is. If I were Scooter Libby, I would make a deal with the prosecution and give Cheney up in a heart-beat.

I think Cheney did the leg work, and Bush was well aware every step of the way.
And even if not, like Ken Lay, he should have been!

Agreed.
Take any one of them out and clean um up, and they'll still stink!

I heard this whole speech this morning. I cant believe some of the things he said besides this question dodging. Did you hear his responce to the question about European nations that do business with Iran? It was something along the lines of "Money Trumps Peace"

I was going to comment, but then I thought "I'll watch the speech first, just to make sure I understand where the pResident is coming from...."

Now I'm going downstairs to hammer nails into my forehead. bawling.gif

Ouch.

er, was that "Bush takes a leak on the 5th Amendment.." or "Bush invokes the 5th to cover his enormous incompetence and lyin' an' a cheatin' ways, and to cover his ignorance at what the other monkeys are up to behind his back while he decides forayun policy with Barney the dog..." unsure.gif

One thing nobody has mentioned about the Plame leak -- civil damage. I don't think the President has the power to pardon people from civil responsibilities.

The CIA lost a multi-million dollar asset.
The DoJ has spent lots on the investigation, because people weren't forthcoming.

Should honest taxpayers foot the bill? Or future authors that are in the White House today?

Karl Rove is a civil servant. He works for me!
So why can't I fire the Moforker?

And let's not forget the overseas associates and contacts of Valerie Plame and Brewster Jennings. Many of these people working for the US to uncover proliferation of WMD in the middle-east have been exposed by their association with this outed CIA organization. They typically have no diplomatic immunity, and will receive no help or even acknowledgement by the US government. We will never know how many of these CIA assets were killed, or imprisoned and tortured in some middle-east hellhole, due to the treasonous action of the Bush administration.
