On the way through South Dakota, you are inundated with advertisements for Wall Drug. In second place comes advertisements for "1880's Town". An appropriately, though not creatively, named place. I'm a history nut, so we stopped in. The place is pretty neat. When you first go in, they have a big barn than displays props from the creation of Kevin Kostner's Dances with Wolves. The movie stuff wasn't as lame as I thought it would be, but I'm more interested in the real stuff. So let's get on with it.

All of the buildings in 1880's Town have been salvaged from all over the region and brought here. Some are functional: a few are museums, there's a couple places to grab a drink, and then of course there's the fully staffed whorehouse. Just kidding about that last part.

that round barn in the back is where they house all the Dances with Wolves stuff

This is the totally untouched hotel. It hasn't been restored and is like walking back in time.

Thanks! I've been wanting to post these for you guys for months now.

I forgot to mention something: The saloon had sections of the wall on display that had bullet holes in them. Shot from the inside.
