Based on declared and projected winners

It's a whole new ball game now folks.
Look for a rise in the national minimum wage in weeks

Another lesser reported victory. The Progressives now control the Democrats!
So, the Progressives control the Democratic party, and the Democratic party controls the House.
I'd say that even though we don't yet know who controls the Senate, all in all, we've had a very successful mid-term election.

Now lets begin the process of turning this monster ship of state around and get it headed back on track.
And keep in mind we'll need to begin work on the 2008 races.

OK, bed time for Bonzo.

It's been a hell of a race tonight, and I've gotta get to bed with the Senate undecided.
At 11:00 pm west coast the Senate comes down to 3 races.

Tester in Montana is looking real strong over Burns.
McCaskill in Missouri has pulled ahead of Talent and is coming on strong at the finish.
Webb in Virginia has also pulled ahead, but only by 2700 votes, or less than 1/2 of 1 percent. A virtual dead heat.
Democrats need all three of these races to control the Senate, and right now it's looking very possible. But even if we lose all three, Bushco no longer has a free ride, and people, that's a Victory!

For the next week, I'd really like to not see one person on this forum whine about how we can't win, or how bad the Democrats are, or how the Democrats are just like Republicans, or in general, whine!

I REQUEST A ONE WEEK MORATORIUM ON WHINING!
We have just won! Now is the time for celebration!

I'm going to take issue with your statement that progressives own the Democratic party. I disagree, most of the Democrats who won last night are moderate to conservative.

The best known pure progressive, anti war Democrat, Ned Lamont, got his ass handed to him. That was a pretty fast five minutes wasn't it?

Don't make the mistake of assuming anything right now sky. It is clear that the American people voted for change, but for the moment that is the only thing that is clear.

The Dems need to take it slow and figure out what message was sent to them through these victories.

No argument there Cap'n. So do the folks in the white house, and introspection isn't their strong suit.

Well, if the White House doesn't hear loud and clear that the American people are dissatisfied with the current course of the country, it's going to seem like a long two years isn't it?

We shall see.

The dramatic Democratic victory is in large measure, due to the uninspired leadership of Donald Rumsfeld in Iraq. Bush did the Republicans who lost a great disservice by announcing that Rumsfeld was not going anywhere.

But, due to the larger than expected gains by the Democrats in the Senate, I think we are on the verge of witnessing Rumsfeld's resignation. I predict, that Rummy will tender his resignation in the near future, and that his resignation will be accepted. It can't come soon enough IMO, I've been calling for it for two years now.

I didn't make the original claim Cap'n.

That honor goes to Alternet, and they backed up the claim with statistics.
Unfortunately I don't have that e-mail at hand for you.

Later today Bush is gonna hold a press chat in which he will congratulate the Democrats on their wins,
and then urge them to work with him!

WRONG!

Bush won't be able to grasp the obvious, that he needs to work with the Democrats, who represent the MOST CURRENT voice of the people!

Tom Delay says "The Democrats didn't win, the Republicans lost"

Well, coming from a disgraced Congressman I'm sure its more fuel to keep his name in the news but it explains the complete and utter spanking the Republican Party has taken and shows the only answer to it is based, like their Iraq policy and many other pressing issues, in the fantasy based community.

Americans have spoken by a large margin that the Republican Party is a disaster for this country.

Wow! I had not seen that you predicted this only HOURS before it happened!

Props to you!!
