Is this guy fu*king nuts or what?

He says we found the WMD in Iraq earlier this year, then he says something about Hobbitts and Mordor from the LOTR movies (I've seen none of them) but now he is talking about fascism, namely Islamo-fascism, to keep the wingnuts scared. (And he forgot to mention what really offended the Japanese were illegal internment camps)

Is this guy worse than even Macacca? Or how about that nut in Alaska, the one who got the billion dollar bridge to nowhere and cried like a baby when questioned on why it was needed? Or that nut in Oklahoma who says global warming is a hoax? Or that nut in Kansas who shrieked we cannot harm something frozen in a test tube or it wold be taking a life?

Santorum issues GOP call to arms

MYERSTOWN
— Likening the times to the late 1930s as Nazi Germany was rising to power, Sen. Rick Santorum said last night that if he loses his re-election bid, it could set the stage for terrorism to become more of a threat than the Nazis ever were.

“If we are not successful here and things don’t go right in the election, there’s a good chance that the course of our country could change,” he said. “We are in the equivalent of the late 1930s, and this election will decide whether we are going to continue to appease or whether we will stand and fight while we have a chance to win without devastating consequences. "

“And you here in Pennsylvania — you here in this room — will have a huge role to play as to what happens.”

Santorum, Pennsylvania’s junior senator who is seeking re-election to a third term, focused mainly on terrorism during his speech at the Lebanon County Republican Committee’s annual dinner at the Lantern Lodge.

Santorum faces an uphill battle against Democratic state Treasurer Robert Casey Jr. With two weeks remaining before Election Day, Casey leads Santorum in most surveys by anywhere from 5 to 13 percentage points. Franklin & Marshall College’s September Keystone Poll showed Casey leading Santorum 45 percent to 38 percent. Much of the criticism Santorum faces is because he is a reliable ally of President George W. Bush on matters from Iraq to confirming judges. He is a religious conservative who has spoken out against abortions, gay unions and contraception. He has also drawn fire for relocating his family to Virginia and home-schooling his six children via cyberschool.

However, Santorum said yesterday, he’s not really concerned about the polls.

“I’ve been down before, and we’ve always found a way to come back to win, and the principal reason we’ve been able to come back and win is the people out here — they just work harder,” he said. “They believe that they’re out there fighting for something instead of out there fighting against something. ...

“I can’t imagine any Democrat out there fighting for Bob Casey,” he added. “He doesn’t give people any reason to be for him. He’s only given reasons for people to be against me or, more specifically, against the president.” Santorum said the war on terrorism is the biggest issue of the election. He described it as “difficult” and “not pretty” and chided Bush for not keeping the public better informed. “The thing the president has not done as good a job as I’d like him to do is to be a better teacher, to explain to the people ... as to the threat we face and the changing nature of that threat,” he said. “It’s not just ‘a’ threat. The fact that we talk about al-Qaida so much in my mind sort of misleads the American public, because al-Qaida is only one little piece of a much bigger threat that faces this country.”

In order to defeat the threat, Santorum said, the United States must become more oil-independent and more energy-secure. We must confront Iran to stop it from proliferating terror, he said. Santorum also said the American people must have the courage to name the enemy.

“I’ve been going around this state for over a year, and many of you have heard me talk about this over and over again,” he said. “The threat that we face is Islamic fascism, and we have to have the courage to say so.”

The United States declared war on the Nazis in Germany and imperialists in Japan during World War II, he explained, and this is no different.

“I’m sure that offended a lot of Germans when we went out and declared war against the Nazis and fought that concept, as it did the Japanese in America. When we fought Japanese imperialism it offended a lot of Japanese,” he said. “But it didn’t deter us from identifying the enemy, what they’re about and what they want to accomplish. But because we’re dealing with religion, we cower away. We refuse to stand up and pinpoint the enemy, define it so the people of America will have a better understanding of what we’re up against.”

The threat the United States is up against now is the greatest threat it has ever faced, Santorum said. Unlike every other threat, terrorists don’t care if they establish an earthly kingdom.

“They’d be fine if you all submit to Islam, but they don’t anticipate that,” he said. “They anticipate a world war, a conflagration that the world has never seen. ... They don’t mind that because they are willing to die. In fact, they want to die. Their whole intention is to die for their cause because it will ensure them eternal life in the world they care about.” The race for his Senate seat is being watched all over the country, Santorum said, and it would be easy for him to win if the rest of the state were more like Lebanon County.

“But the state isn’t just Lebanon County, but that’s why Lebanon County needs to do more,” he said, “because you’ve got someone who stands up for your values, someone who fights hard for agriculture in rural Pennsylvania. Not only do I get to Lebanon County at least once a year — I usually do more than once a year — but I get to all of our little counties at least once a year, and I work hard to make sure that they’re represented.”

From the moment I read the story about Santorum carrying around his wifes miscarrage, and having his kids pray for it, I knew this nut job didn't have all his oars in the water.

But he is somewhat right, the USA is like a late 30's Germany in that we are governed by paranoid power hungry freaks who are trying to destroy this countrys constitution ;restrict rights on its own citizens;and wage war against those who aren't in line with their theories.

i know this is tucked away on the home page , but maybe some newbies can check it out to see the parrallels Santorum is inadvertantly referring to.

Celtic's right... if we're going to go with the late 30's analysis, we're the imperialists, not al Qaeda.

Seriously, how the hell can anyone think Santorum's ridiculous comparison to the WWII era is an accurate analogy? None of this rhetoric has any validity or substance, much like Santorum himself.

And yes, I think he qualifies for the most insane member of Congress, or at least the Senate. Good thing he's going to lose.

Yes he's gonna lose. But ya know, he's not gonna go away.
At least for the people in his neck of the woods he will continue to be a pain one way or another.

That demonstrates the decline of the institution. Remember when we had really high-quality nuts in the Senate, like Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond? This idiot can barely babble.
