sky of mind
The entire Republican party is on the verge of shitting their pants,
while Bush and Rove are cool as cucumbers. Why?

Recall 2000, Bush and company all went to bed not worried a bit, even though the TV said Gore had won.
And now we have these two aspects to contend with, and it's fucking scary!

Why is Bush so confident of continued Republican domination? And could Roves October Surprise have something to do with Diebold? This would explain that stupid pigish grin of his when he promised the Republican Base a surprise.

I feel as though we're being forced to dance with the devil, and if we make a single misstep, we're all fucked.
I fear that if we aren't very fortunate we might have to actually live the horrors of a neo-con new world order.

THIS is what flipped my pessimistic switch

I think no matter what "surprise" Rove thinks he's going to come up with, if the Dems don't win at least one Arm of Congress, everyones gonna know the gig is up. At that point we should make the Mexican election protests look like sit-ins. I don't think the people in this country realize what a general strike would do to these corporations or the government. Really, who would stop the masses? The Army, Guard, Marines etc... are all overseas for the most part. Police forces are just as frustrated with any other group of Americans for the lack of support(financial and otherwise) they get from the Feds.

We shouldn't need to be fortunate, yet that is what it has come down to in this Oligarchy. if we truly do get fucked, then maybe its time to explore other options , like strikes with people walking off work en mass, to get the attention of the Gov't. The only thing that may hold that back is the tremendous amount of apathy that controls this country. Short of PNAC death squads roaming the country , what is it going to take to wake the masses into action?

In 23 days we will see if our democratic republic is truly dead, or if there is hope for our childrens future.

Maybe they know something we don't.

As for myself, I am not counting on anything in November. I am hoping, but not expecting. Experience has taught me (i.e. the 2004 Presidential election when "W" was actually re-elected) that nothing can be taken for granted.

You know I have a negative attitude, Sky, and I freely admit that, but that attitude has been learned via experience. Early next month we will know the direction the country will go in the future. If the Democrats do not gain the House at least, it will be time to fold the tent and go home. If after all that has gone on, the American people still put the Republicans in charge, then we know it has all gone wrong. I don't think this will happen, based upon everything I have heard, but I am prepared for that eventuality. We need to all be prepared for what to do if things don't go our way in November.
