Full Version: Some Damn Good Music

I busted out my old copy of Simcity 3000 today and played it for the first time in about a year. I used to have the music off as the default setting but this time i left it on. I have discovered that it is pretty good. In fact the people who make the games have won many awards for the music that they have created for their games. Maxis(the people who made the game) have all the music that they made for the game on their website. It is mostly Jazz and big band music, all instrumental. I'm not a fan of Jazz but this stuff is very good.

Here is the website.

Hole EEE shit! That's too damned bizarre.

Just this last weekend I was cleaning out some folders and found the old simcity3000 folder, Opened it and found the music file, and played most of these tunes.

Wait? Is that you humming the twilight zone theme?

Listened to them once, don't think I ever will again though they are all saved in my music folder.

I enjoyed all the sim games, only with the cheats.
I didn't wanna actually play the game, I just wanna build communities.

The most creative of the sim line I think, and most difficult, was Sim Planet.

I never played sim planet but i agree with you about simcity, it sucks without the cheats, takes too long. I like it with the cheats because i like building the city but i don't like any of the intensity that comes with having to balance the budget or knowing what civic buildings i can afford. I play simcity to relax, the music is nice and the visuals are very calming too for some reason. It seems therapeutic for me to play SimCity 3000. I just wish i could find my copy of SimCity 3000 Unlimited. Oh well, if i can't i can buy it for about $10.

Correction. I should have said Sim Island. (just scanned through the collection)

Sim Island.
You get an island, and you have to build an industry that trades with the other islands, while keeping your locals happy.

You gotta build your industry from scratch. That means you have to actually make all the raw materials to even make the building to put the industry in. Mining, logging, etc. It's so hard I never actually got a sustaining balance that would continue and grow.

Simcity with the cheats was more fun. Hell, I might be up til 4 am building a great city by the sea.

Oh right, Sim Island. I bought it, played it once and gave up on it right away. Didn't seem all that great. Other good ones, not quite in the same as the other sim games, are Sim Copter and Streets of Sim City. There were some problems with the games but i always liked them.
