Full Version: Polls Shifting Back Toward The Democrats
OLD American Century / White Rose Society message boards > Political Discussion forums > Elections

After a week and half or so of polls trending somewhat republican, they seem to be heading back in our direction. Bush approval has fallen from lower 40's in some polls, back down into the 30's. Also, the generic congressional ballot had the dems and republicans even in a few polls, now it is back to the dems being up by about 12. If you have no idea what i am talking about, here is a link:

Like I said on another thread, polls are only single snapshots taken of a single day in history. The fact is that they can be easily manipulated by the pollster to get the results they're seeking. And Americans are notoriously fickle in their opinions on any given day. A single event or something happening elsewhere in the world can change their minds 180 degrees. Hence, I put little credence in any individual poll no matter what the results show. I read them for entertainment purposes only.

As long as they don't go the way you want them to, they suck!
Otherwise they're a damn handy nice thing to have around eh?

In my opinion, most political polls are biased to one side or the other. So what's the point of going ga-ga over a poll which reinforces one's political views when it's more than likely that the poll questions have been framed in a biased way and the demographics were weighted to favor a portion of the populace with a certain political philosophy? Since the pollster already knows what the results will be, that's like cheating at solitaire. That's why I take all polls with a grain of salt. Even the ones that are highly favorable to my political beliefs. Believe the polls at your own risk, I always say.

I tell you what.

You take the polls you like, and I'll take the ones I like,
and we'll each decide what to do with our respective chosen polls.

However, between you and me, we both know the polls are correct about the Democratic rebound.

I would except for one tiny fact. I don't like or trust any polls.
