You realize we're the only western country with youth we can 'afford' to squander in war?
Every European country is barely keeping up with replacement levels. Many are actually shrinking.
There's no way a country with a shrinking population, like Germany or Italy, would start a war that would claim the lives of their youth. They cannot afford it.
Just a thought.

While almost all of the developed world, and many other nations, have seen plummeting fertility rates over the last twenty-years, the United States' rates have remained stable and even slightly increased. Note however that some European countries have gradually increasing fertility rates, most notably France, whose fertility rate increased to 1.85 in 2005. Nevertheless even France remains below the 2.09 children/woman fertility rate of the US.
A regional breakdown of the USA shows that New England has a rate similar to most Western European countries and the South and border states have fertility rates considerably higher than replacement. States where the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a strong presence, most notably Utah, also have higher-than-replacement fertility rates, especially among the LDS population.
There are several explanations for this. Much higher fertility among immigrant populations accounts for a large part of the difference. America's religious makeup limits participation in modern sex education and abortion and encourages a family-centered lifestyle. Statistically almost all of the difference between the United States and Europe can be explained by the US's higher rate of teenage pregnancy. The United States also is somewhat more rural than Europe or Japan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sub-replacement_fertility

DAMN. Those babies born to teenage mothers are important.
That's why we can't allow them to cross state lines to get an abortion. Who will serve in the Army !?!?!?
