You have to guess that Dante wouldn’t be surprised by the swarms of droning, gilded hypocrites who have hatched since Israel began attacking terrorists in Gaza and Lebanon. After all, having placed the worst hypocrites in the lowest reaches of hell because of the particularly odious nature of their fraud, Dante knew a thing or two about big shots who are “gilded on the outside but all lead within,” especially the truth that their malice arises from human nature, not “society.”



So, with the truth in mind that humanity will always be plagued by hypocrites who threaten its spiritual and physical well-being, let’s refuse to deny the existences of the current hatch of Great Hypocrites by looking them right in the face (despite the nausea we are certain to suffer). And what better way to demonstrate our resolve not to be fooled by their hypocrisy than to begin with the face of their current queen, Hillary Clinton, whose lying lips recently fluttered three vile hypocrisies in a single fraudulent appearance (a feat befitting their royal stature).



Swarming into Midtown Manhattan with other insidious Liberals, Mrs. Clinton buzzed unequivocal support for Israel’s right to take “whatever steps are necessary” to defend itself, asking the audience to imagine how American would react if “extremist terrorists were launching rocket attacks across the Mexican or Canadian border.”



Well, how nice to have the Senator flit over to the Conservative side when it comes to national defense . . . that is, Israel’s national defense. But true to what lies beneath her gilded robes, Mrs. “International Community” didn’t tell her audience that her newfound toughness doesn’t apply to her own country. Why? The question is ultimately rhetorical, but I’ll answer in case there’s one American remaining who thinks Hillary Clinton’s gilding is more than robe deep.



The answer to the question is this: At the moment, Mrs. Clinton finds it expedient to make nice with American Jews, whose support she hopes to garner in her Senate race but more importantly in the Big One of 2008. However, it is even more important for her to keep her Liberal base happy (from which she would populate a Hillary administration) while hiding her Liberal bona fides from the rest of the public.



Given those facts, Hypocrite Hillary realizes that it is insane for her to help the 83% of Americans who aren’t Liberals to figure out that she’s perfectly happy to let the “International Community” do for America what it “did” for Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, etc. while she rejects the same “benefit” for Israel. Thus, not a word about her “America Last” policies at the New York rally.



Having dropped that hypocritical nuke that she hoped Americans wouldn’t notice, Hypocrite Hillary dropped two stink bombs on American Jews, hoping that their noses (and stomachs) would be fooled by her signature perfume of gilded words and equally gilded silence. The first exploded in all its tear-inducing stench when amid her tough talk, she failed to explain the reasons for her metamorphosis to Hillary Warrior Princess, especially with respect to Israel. (A few days after Mrs. Clinton’s disingenuous performance, President Bush would be honest about the GOP’s failure to stand firmly with Black Americans during the Civil Rights Era.)



But from Hypocrite Hillary, not a word to American Jews regarding what Helen Freedman, executive director of Americans for a Safe Israel, far too gently called “her history,” including “her kiss to Suha,” except an implicit “trust me.” (Readers are left to contemplate for themselves the stinking mushroom cloud that arises from that ironic mega-bomb.)



Neither did Hypocrite Hillary have a word to say about the fact that she and her Liberal friends represent the segment of America’s political pie least supportive of Israel. Yes, a gilded expediency reigned in her power-loving psyche once more as she hoped that her glitter would blind her audience into believing that like her lying husband, she and her Liberal friends, shouting “The International Community be damned!” would sling on an M-1 to shoot an Islamo-Fascist terrorist off to his 72 virgins with bullet train speed.



Here, as revealed by Gallup polling from 2002-2006 regarding “sympathies with the Israelis or Palestinians” (reported by danielpipes.org) is the truth that HH conveniently avoided. Polling five groups that cover virtually the entire political landscape with respect to party affiliation and ideology (Conservative Republicans, Moderate/Liberal Republicans, Liberal Democrats, Moderate Democrats, Conservative Democrats), Gallup found that Liberal Democrats (at 43%) least sided with Israel.



Of course, Hypocrite Hillary didn’t find that fact important. Neither did she find it important to discuss the finding that the highest support for Israel comes from Conservative Republicans at 78% and Moderate/Liberal Republicans at 62% with Moderate and Conservative Democrats joining their Liberal brethren by supporting Israel at 50% and 46% respectively.



And not a peep from Mrs. Clinton about Mr. Pipes’ assertion that an examination of Gallup’s “sub-views” reveals a six to one difference by which Conservatives favor Israel more than Liberals do.



No, you won’t get straight, honest talk from Hypocrite Hillary and her Liberal friends about the problems of the Middle East and the problem of Islamo-Fascist terrorism in general. You can be sure, however, that deep down Hillary and the Gang agree with Marwan Bishara, who, writing in the Leftist magazine The Nation, knee jerks like a true Liberal to find the victim a criminal and vice versa (only, of course, if the victim is an American or Israeli).



“Whether we like it or not,” wrote Bishara, “Hamas, like Hezbollah, is mostly a byproduct of an oppressive occupation, not the other way around. That’s why refraining from excessive use of force and concentrating all efforts on a negotiated end to the occupation is paramount.”



So let’s steel ourselves, because we’re going to be hearing a lot more from Hypocrite Hillary and her Gilded Gang, including Kofi Annan (Secretary-General of Disgusting Moral Equivalence), Bill Clinton (President Do-Nothing and Appeaser-in-Chief), and a million arse-kissing Clintophants who have already swamped the airwaves with the stinking talking point that if co-Presidents Bill and Hill were still running the show, all would be right with the world.



But as we prepare ourselves to receive this foul onslaught, let’s remember that even if beneath the robes of the modern hypocrite the lead that mercilessly weighed down Dante’s hypocrites has morphed into an unbelievably dense, incredibly fetid excrement, the Gang’s ugly stink can’t hurt us unless we believe their gilded, lying lips.
